You gotta love a review site that is constantly self-conratulating itself and labels itself as "hipsters". Ha, oh I know you think I'm talking about yours truly, beloved, but I only wish I was.

In other news...I just tried to join the webcast of G4TV.com's weekly taping, but it's lagged to fuck and back, so screw that idea.

Some may think I was a bit too tough on The Replacements for my review of Pleased To Meet Me, but someone's gotta be honest. The first four soungs are groovy, then pffft. I still dig their Twin/Tone shit the best. I picked up the newly remastered copies of Hootenanny and Stink on Restless today and enjoyed them much. I never owned Stink, and the other I previously only had on tape. 16 bucks well spent.

The Woz Invades EFE

You know, I completely forgot that I had sent John Wozniak (of Marcy Playground) an email asking for an interview. Well, I had sent the request through the tubes of the MP website, which went to whomever. So anyway, that was a few weeks ago it seems, and tonight I found an email from John saying he'd like to do one, so I'm happy. Never let anyone say EFE can't groove with the big boys.

They say "You can't do that", but I did it, so fuck you.

Yes kids, I'm back in the recording booth once again to turn out my second album of this year. Taking the whole "Who Cares?" theory of composition and running with it, I am going to record an entire album in a day. This isn't the idea I was talking about earlier, recording things live and all, but it's not far from it. I will provide all the details when the product is finished, which won't be long at all. I know, the question "How can it be any good?" arises, but that's beside the point with this project. This is all about the what difference does it really make question. You put forth effort and you enjoy it, but you go, what if I didn't put forth effort? What if I just slapped something together, could it be just as successful, just on a different aesthetic plane? Well, we'll find out.

Velvet Underground Invades EFE

It's always nice when you can sscore an interview with one of your rock heroes, no? Well next month Echo From Esoterica will be featuring an interview with Maureen Tucker. Dig it.

In other news, how cool would it have been to have gone to high school in an old motel? Damn cool, I'd say. Just down the road there's a Catholic Girls' School that moved into an old Hampton Inn. That's the shit, I say. I'm just wondering how they re-did the rooms, if they did. They might hold classes in the lounge and lobby, for all I know. I apparently gew up at the wrong time...in the wrong place...non-Catholic...oh, and the wrong gender as well. Ah well.

Of course, you can figure that college is nothing but a huge getaway to some fancy shamncy buildings that could operate as hotels, but fuck that. College was a drag and you pretty much had to go to high school. Doing it in a Hampton Inn would have been groovy.

Let's see. What do I want to say today. I was thinking about recording a new album, but one of those "fully stripped down", "getting back to basics" nightmares. Live and shit, you know. Not "live" as in front of an audience, but live takes. Open mic, electric guitar, and singing. Sounds like a horrible idea. I'll have to look into it.

On the other hand I may just go spank it and think of Bo Derek or something like that.

Lame Link of the Day

Again, I'd like to discuss Avril Lavigne and how much she sucks. The whole white tank top and tie get up with the boxer waist line peeking over the low cut jeans is retarded, ok? RETARDED. Again, no one will give a flying fuck about this waif in another year's time. She'll have another album maybe (or if we're lucky, even later) and everyone won't care and she'll be older, dismissing her "tie years", explaining that she was all caught up in the whims of her producers and label, even though the outfit was originally her idea. Her album will be filled with "deeper" songs...about turning "older" (oh yeah, early 20s, man) and realizing just how important her art is...tunes full of anger and introspection. Aw yeah. And it'll chart for a week and then drop of the face of the planet.

By the way, did I mention that Avril Lavigne sucks?
