Roxio Acquires Napster - Still Gets It All Wrong

So Roxio (best known for their ever-lovin' CD burning software EZ CD Creator Platinum, which by the way, is available in its entire form for free at KAZAA) has scooped up Napster and is now hoping to restart the service on a subscription basis by the end of the year. They are hoping to get deals with record labels and get the thing off the ground because they are not embroiled in any legalities previously imposed upon Napster and want to make a fresh start. Great. The problem? They only want to cater to "top tier" artists and not a bunch of "no-names nobody's ever heard of". Well fuck you, Roxio.

It's good to know that the greedy music industry wheels keep turning and the only people that apparently warrant attention are the majority of the assholes on the Top 40 charts. Hey, I dig some of that music, but what made Napster great, and what ontinues to make Kazaa and other P2P services great is that it isn't just based on top tier artists. Who the fuck wants to purchase mp3s for things they can readily buy at Wal-Mart. You've completely missed the point, Roxio. Wake up and smell the demand for what people really want, not what they can already have. The thrill to me for getting music from these services has often been finding songs that I can no longer buy, have gone out of print, or whatever. And who the fuck's fault is that. That's right, the record companies'. Until they find some kind of solution that brings together not just new shit, but all the old great stuff as well that is now probably oxidizing in god knows who's master tape vaults, you can count me out for paying money to download tracks. I buy shitloads of music on a consistent basis, probably even more than I already was since the P2P services exploded. And if you want more of my money, how about cutting down CD prices. I mean, who buys music at the fucking mall? Have you seen that? $19.99 for ONE CD that you can buy at Best Buy for 11 bucks, maybe even $9.99? And sale prices of $15.99? That's a standard base price anywhere else! Ah, it's just a fucking headache.

Fred Durst - Fucking Moron

OK so I watched the Grammys last night. Aside from such bizarre bullshit as NSYNC and Britney Spears getting nominated in a couple categories in what seemed like a last grasp for any of those groups, the best moment had to be when Fred Durst was giving out an award and said something to the effect of "I know we're all in AGREEANCE about this war being bad...". Agreeance. Where the fuck did you get that word, from your ass? Nice job, you stupid motherfucker. Next time, just keep your stupid mouth shut. Nothing you have ever said has been worth listening to, and now you're just driving that point deeper. Nice that you're still clinging onto the retarded backwards baseball hat thing, too. Sorry, but your career is up. Go star in some porn or hit the county fair circuit already. All your fans finally woke up and turned 14.
