Year End Best-Of Bullshit

It wasn't unexpected that so many folks would throw the Strokes and White Stripes at the top of their lists this year, but goddamn can they not come up with new things to say? I for one can't stand either group and would like to see both cobust in a fiery orgy of gasoline and matchisticks. But some of the fellow writers at PopMatters seem to be looking at each others' notes. Every time The Strokes album gets thrown into their best of lists for this year, they basically say the same thing "People who say that this is another Is This It missed the boat/point/whathaveyou." Come on, people. It's not that good at all. Get your ears out of your asses and smell the shit. I guess it's fine to be complacent and all about the kind of crap you listen to, but giving it up for both of these groups has to be one of the most predictable things you can do, next to praising everything Radiohead turns out.

It doesn't matter in the end, I know. It's all just music. But I just don't get getting excited over phony garage rock bullshit and/or overrated white boy meets shitty drummer girl blooze blorch. You all really don't get out much to give these bands such high honors. Yes, I know more about good music than you. Maybe someday you will be an equal. Thank you.
